AI Job Displacement

Evidence-based tracking of layoffs, workforce reductions and other employment displacement attributable to artificial intelligence

Where is AI demonstrably reducing demand for human labor?

The AI Job Displacement Tracker documents employment reductions for which there is credible evidence connecting the change to artificial intelligence.

Inclusion requires more than a company using AI while simultaneously reducing employment. We look for company disclosures, executive statements, employment data or other evidence establishing that AI, automation enabled by AI, or AI-driven productivity contributed to the reduction in human labor demand.

Displacement can include layoffs, workforce reductions through attrition, elimination of positions, restructuring of teams, or measurable reductions in the number of people required to perform a given amount of work.

Reduced hiring and positions that disappear through non-backfilling are tracked separately in Hiring & Non-Backfills.
